Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Wooded Landscape by William Taverner was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,016.77). Admittedly, works by William Taverner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work On the outskirts of a town in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 26,250.00 (€ 33,435.44).
