Despite a disappointment, a good price for William Stone
When the work Stoney lane, Winter by William Stone was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 720.00 (€ 1,059.76). Despite this disappointing result, Stoney lane, Winter is the most expensive artwork by William Stone that we have observed at auction so far.
Trotz Enttäuschung ein guter Preis für William Stone
Als die Arbeit Stoney lane, Winter von William Stone im März 2007 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 720,00 (€ 1.059,76) den Besitzer.
