Despite a disappointment, a good price for William Stewart
In October 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work At the spinning wheel by William Stewart for GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,151.49). This price was achieved in the auction The Scottish Sale at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, At the spinning wheel is the most expensive artwork by William Stewart that we have observed at auction so far.
