In May 2001 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction CALIFORNIA, WESTERN AND AMERICAN PAINTINGS, which included the work Dutch Windmill by William Ritschel. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,637.50 (€ 9,033.12), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Ritschel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pilot on Board in April 2019 with an auction result of USD 137,575.00 (€ 122,823.86).

Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in Los Angeles die Auktion CALIFORNIA, WESTERN AND AMERICAN PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch Windmill von William Ritschel zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.637,50 (€ 9.033,12) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Ritschel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pilot on Board im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 137.575,00 (€ 122.823,86).
