Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work A snake in the grass by William Oliver. The price achieved of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 6,220.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Oliver - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Grand Canal, Venice, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 7,637.50 (€ 12,483.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit A snake in the grass von William Oliver zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.465,00 (€ 6.220,87) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William Oliver mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Grand Canal, Venice beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 7.637,50 (€ 12.483,19) versteigert wurde.
