Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction British & Continental Paintings, which included the work Waterfall by William Mellor. The price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 7,539.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Mellor - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Grasmere Lake from Loughrigg, Westmoreland, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 10,575.00 (€ 16,560.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion British & Continental Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Waterfall von William Mellor zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 7.539,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William Mellor mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Grasmere Lake from Loughrigg, Westmoreland beobachtet, die im Mai 2002 für GBP 10.575,00 (€ 16.560,59) versteigert wurde.
