Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Mellor achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2012. In the Victorian & British Impressionist Art auction, the work Rydal lake sold for GBP 6,500.00 (€ 7,792.30) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Mellor - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Grasmere Lake from Loughrigg, Westmoreland, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 10,575.00 (€ 16,560.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Mellor erzielte im März 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Art wurde die Arbeit Rydal lake für GBP 6.500,00 (€ 7.792,30) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Mellor mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Grasmere Lake from Loughrigg, Westmoreland beobachtet, die im Mai 2002 für GBP 10.575,00 (€ 16.560,59) versteigert wurde.
