Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work The heavy cruiser H.M.S. Cumberland by William McDowell for GBP 125.00 (€ 153.99). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by William McDowell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Booth Line's Hildebrand arriving at Liverpool under tug escort in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 836.50 (€ 1,255.06).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2012 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The heavy cruiser H.M.S. Cumberland von William McDowell für GBP 125,00 (€ 153,99) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William McDowell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Booth Line's Hildebrand arriving at Liverpool under tug escort im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 836,50 (€ 1.255,06).
