Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS, which included the work Returning home by William Manners. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 600.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 681.50 (€ 890.77). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Manners - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Figures And Carriages On A Street By Moonlight (Illustrated); And Figures On A Street By Moonlight, which sold at auction in July 2006 for GBP 2,280.00 (€ 3,337.65).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Returning home von William Manners zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 600,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 681,50 (€ 890,77) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von William Manners mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Figures And Carriages On A Street By Moonlight (Illustrated); And Figures On A Street By Moonlight beobachtet, die im Juli 2006 für GBP 2.280,00 (€ 3.337,65) versteigert wurde.
