Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A river in full spate by William Manners was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,288.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Manners - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Figures And Carriages On A Street By Moonlight (Illustrated); And Figures On A Street By Moonlight, which sold at auction in July 2006 for GBP 2,280.00 (€ 3,337.65).
