Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2009 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included this untitled work by William Johnstone. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 984.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Johnstone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Earth, Air, Fire, Water in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 19,200.00 (€ 28,254.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2009 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von William Johnstone zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 875,00 (€ 984,96) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Johnstone erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Earth, Air, Fire, Water im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.200,00 (€ 28.254,10).
