Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Basket of Strawberries by William Jacob Hays the Elder. Here, the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 26,290.00 (€ 25,073.92). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Jacob Hays the Elder - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Buffalo Hunt, which sold at auction in December 2002 for USD 59,750.00 (€ 56,986.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2002 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Basket of Strawberries von William Jacob Hays the Elder zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 26.290,00 (€ 25.073,92) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von William Jacob Hays the Elder mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Buffalo Hunt beobachtet, die im Dezember 2002 für USD 59.750,00 (€ 56.986,17) versteigert wurde.
