Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Huggins achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2008. In the The Arthur Ackermann and Peter Johnson Collection: A Connoisseur's Choice auction, the work Head study of a longhorn cow sold for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,703.09) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Huggins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two leopards in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 458,500.00 (€ 334,305.50).
