The work The Italian steamship Acordat off the South Stack lighthouse by William Howard Yorke was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2011. The price achieved of GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,605.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Howard Yorke achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The American clipper Caravan rendering assistance to a British full-rigger in mid-Atlantic in July 2003 with an auction result of USD 23,900.00 (€ 19,415.11).
