Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Royal Residences: Four Plates by William Henry Pyne was auctioned at Christies in New York in August 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 418.25 (€ 343.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Pyne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Windsor Castle: The Queen's Prescence Chamber; St Georges Hall; The King's Old State Bed Chamber; Queens Audience Chamber; The Royal Chapel; The Kings Drawing Room; Ball Room in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 3,760.00 (€ 6,303.73).
