Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portraits of rare and curious birds... from the menagery of Osterley Park, 1794 by William Hayes was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May last year. The price achieved of GBP 3,780.00 (€ 4,446.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Hayes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Drawings of birds, sixty original watercolours, 1791-1792 in May last year with an auction result of GBP 37,800.00 (€ 44,468.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portraits of rare and curious birds... from the menagery of Osterley Park, 1794 von William Hayes kam im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.780,00 (€ 4.446,81) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Hayes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Drawings of birds, sixty original watercolours, 1791-1792 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 37.800,00 (€ 44.468,10).
