In October 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work A Basket of Strawberries and Peaches on a Stone Ledge by William Hammer for USD 9,560.00 (€ 9,675.13). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art and Fine 19th Century European Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house.
