Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS, which included the work The Liverpool landing stage Fire of 1874 by William Gawin Herdman. It changed hands for a price of GBP 188.00 (€ 245.73) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 25.00 – 200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Gawin Herdman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work In Edinburgh, the High Street, Leith Wynd and Canongate in March 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,997.50 (€ 2,893.63).
