Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2006 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British and Continental Pictures including Marine pictures, which included the work Liverpool Docks by William Gawin Herdman. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,673.06), 20% above the upper estimate. Other works by William Gawin Herdman have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 1,997.50 (€ 2,893.63) in March 2003 for the work In Edinburgh, the High Street, Leith Wynd and Canongate.
