Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sailing Traders Coming Into Port On The High Tide by William Edward Webb was sold in the MARITIME PICTURES auction at Christies in London in November 2005. The price achieved of GBP 2,400.00 (€ 3,525.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Edward Webb have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Quayside Fish Market At Douglas, Isle Of Man in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 17,925.00 (€ 25,785.02).
