The »bidding war« ended at GBP 937.50 (€ 1,123.89), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Edward Frank Britten have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pantomine; Comedy in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 5,744.26).

Die Arbeit 'Suggestion for a portrait' von William Edward Frank Britten wurde im März 2012 in der Auktion Christie's Interiors bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 937,50 (€ 1.123,89) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Edward Frank Britten auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pantomine; Comedy im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 5.744,26).
