Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings, which included the work A maiden seated on a wall by William Edward Frank Britten. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 717.00 (€ 1,073.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Edward Frank Britten have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pantomine; Comedy in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 5,744.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A maiden seated on a wall von William Edward Frank Britten zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 717,00 (€ 1.073,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Edward Frank Britten auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pantomine; Comedy im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 5.744,26).
