This artwork by William Stuart achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2000. In the Maritime and Naval Battles auction, the work H.M.S. Victory engaging the Spanish vice-admirals's flagship at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent, 14th February 1797 sold for GBP 12,925.00 (€ 21,125.40) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Stuart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Trafalgar: The heat of the action in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 145,250.00 (€ 173,573.53).

Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Stuart auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Trafalgar: The heat of the action im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 145.250,00 (€ 173.573,53).
