Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work A frigate heeling in the wind by William Davison for GBP 199.75 (€ 261.09). This price was achieved in the auction BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Davison achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The auxiliary steamer Tycho Brahe off the South Stack Lighthouse, Anglesey in July 2004 with an auction result of USD 9,560.00 (€ 7,945.48).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli 2003 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A frigate heeling in the wind von William Davison für GBP 199,75 (€ 261,09) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Davison erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The auxiliary steamer Tycho Brahe off the South Stack Lighthouse, Anglesey im Juli 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.560,00 (€ 7.945,48).
