Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2003 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper, which included the work Coast scene at Ryhope, Seaham harbour in the distance by William Crosby. The price achieved of GBP 364.25 (€ 531.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Crosby - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tintern Abbey at sunset; and Figures resting in a tranquil river landscape, which sold at auction in July 2002 for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,874.17).
