Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hastings from the Pier Rocks by William Collingwood was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 562.50 (€ 711.02). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Collingwood - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Jungfrau At Sunrise, which sold at auction in December 2007 for GBP 1,062.50 (€ 1,443.76).
