Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2012 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work The John Kerr Co.'s John Ferguson off the Tail of the Bank on the Clyde, possibly on her maiden voyage by William Clark. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,375.00 (€ 4,157.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Clark - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The auxiliary iron paddle steamer Atrato passing Ailsa Craig, which sold at auction in February 2006 for USD 12,000.00 (€ 10,062.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The John Kerr Co.'s John Ferguson off the Tail of the Bank on the Clyde, possibly on her maiden voyage von William Clark zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.375,00 (€ 4.157,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von William Clark mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The auxiliary iron paddle steamer Atrato passing Ailsa Craig beobachtet, die im Februar 2006 für USD 12.000,00 (€ 10.062,89) versteigert wurde.
