A top price for William Ashton - as previously expected
In September 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work The Elders by William Ashton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 836.50 (€ 1,218.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Elders is the most expensive artwork by William Ashton that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im September 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Elders von William Ashton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 836,50 (€ 1.218,67) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist The Elders das teuerste Kunstwerk von William Ashton, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
