In May 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Entrance to Creux Harbour, Sark; and Les Autelets, Sark (illustrated) by William Arthur Toplis. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,429.94), 42% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Arthur Toplis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Creux Harbour, Sark, which sold at auction in November 2010 for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,709.36).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Entrance to Creux Harbour, Sark; and Les Autelets, Sark (illustrated) von William Arthur Toplis zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.429,94) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Arthur Toplis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Creux Harbour, Sark beobachtet, die im November 2010 für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.709,36) versteigert wurde.
