Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of James Drummond, 2Nd Laird Of Blair Drummond (1673-1739); And Portrait Of His Wife Jean Carre Of Cavers (1681-1766) by William Aikman. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,679.82) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Aikman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of John, 2nd Duke of Argyll and 1st Duke of Greenwich (1680-1743), three-quarter-length, in a red coat with silver braid, wearing the sash and star of the Garter, a coastal fortress beyond in October 2006 with an auction result of GBP 55,200.00 (€ 82,473.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2011 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of James Drummond, 2Nd Laird Of Blair Drummond (1673-1739); And Portrait Of His Wife Jean Carre Of Cavers (1681-1766) von William Aikman zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.679,82) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Aikman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of John, 2nd Duke of Argyll and 1st Duke of Greenwich (1680-1743), three-quarter-length, in a red coat with silver braid, wearing the sash and star of the Garter, a coastal fortress beyond im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 55.200,00 (€ 82.473,72).
