The work Portrait of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Lady Tinwald, Half-Length, In A Blue Dress And Red Wrap, Feigned Oval by William Aikman was sold in the British and Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in May 2006. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,926.77), 65% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Aikman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of John, 2nd Duke of Argyll and 1st Duke of Greenwich (1680-1743), three-quarter-length, in a red coat with silver braid, wearing the sash and star of the Garter, a coastal fortress beyond in October 2006 with an auction result of GBP 55,200.00 (€ 82,473.72).

Die Arbeit Portrait of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Lady Tinwald, Half-Length, In A Blue Dress And Red Wrap, Feigned Oval von William Aikman wurde im Mai 2006 in der Auktion British and Victorian Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of John, 2nd Duke of Argyll and 1st Duke of Greenwich (1680-1743), three-quarter-length, in a red coat with silver braid, wearing the sash and star of the Garter, a coastal fortress beyond im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 55.200,00 (€ 82.473,72).
