This artwork by William Affleck achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2000. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work A country girl before a thatched cottage sold for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,410.09) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Affleck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gathering Wildflowers, which sold at auction in July 2015 for GBP 6,250.00 (€ 8,860.40).
