In November 2015 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters & 19th CenturyArt - (including Dutch Impressionism), which included the work A View Of The Waalseilandsgracht And The Kraansluis, Amsterdam by Willem Witsen. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 15,000.00 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Willem Witsen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Carriages at the Victoria Embankment, London in June 2017 with an auction result of EUR 68,500.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im November 2015 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Masters & 19th CenturyArt - (including Dutch Impressionism) durch, in der auch die Arbeit A View Of The Waalseilandsgracht And The Kraansluis, Amsterdam von Willem Witsen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 15.000,00 und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem Witsen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Carriages at the Victoria Embankment, London im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 68.500,00.
