This work of art by William Verelst could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British Pictures 1500-1850 auction, the work Portrait of a Royal child, probably Princess Caroline Matilda (1751-1775), full-length, in a lace dress and bonnet, seated on a sofa draped with a blue velvet ermine-lined cloak , the sofa surmounted by the Prince of Wales's feather badge, in an inte changed hands for GBP 5,975.00 (€ 8,577.20) - missing the lower Admittedly, works by William Verelst have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Boy, Full-Length, In A Pale Red Silver Embroidered Coat, Waistcoat, And Breeches, With A Spaniel, A Staff In His Right Hand And A Tricorn On The Ground At His Feet, By A Plinth In A Wooded Landscape in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 31,070.00 (€ 48,058.25).
