Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Extensive wooded landscape with peasants on a road by Willem van den Bundel was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 5,920.70). Admittedly, works by Willem van den Bundel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A wooded river landscape with soldiers, peasants and huntsmen on a path, a church through the trees beyond in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 35,850.00 (€ 55,031.55).
