Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work An Allegory of Vanitas: The desecration of a tomb by Willem de Poorter for EUR 14,650.00. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings from the Collection of Jacques Goudstikker at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem de Poorter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ And The Woman Taken In Adultery in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 920,000.00 (€ 829,351.84).
