Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of EUR 31,250.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Willem Anthonie van Deventer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping on a calm estuary, which sold at auction in April 2000 for GBP 42,300.00 (€ 72,415.89).

Die Arbeit A dockyard on the Northern shore of the Amsterdam harbour von Willem Anthonie van Deventer wurde im November 2016 in der Auktion Old Masters & 19th Century Art - including Dutch Impressionism bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 31.250,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Willem Anthonie van Deventer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shipping on a calm estuary beobachtet, die im April 2000 für GBP 42.300,00 (€ 72.415,89) versteigert wurde.
