In April this year Bonhams held the auction Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art, which included the work Frightened, 1946 by Werner Drewes. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,200.00 (€ 9,239.13), 70% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Werner Drewes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Expectation of New Events in November last year with an auction result of USD 75,975.00 (€ 73,597.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Frightened, 1946 von Werner Drewes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.200,00 (€ 9.239,13) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Werner Drewes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Expectation of New Events im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 75.975,00 (€ 73.597,79).
