This artwork by Wen Zhengming achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2018. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work The Red Cliff, With Calligraphy Of "Ode To The Red Cliff" In Running Script sold for USD 1,095,000.00 (€ 888,798.70) - well above the upper estimate of USD 580,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wen Zhengming achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poems In Large Running Script in May 2019 with an auction result of HKD 83,227,500.00 (€ 9,525,364.61).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wen Zhengming erzielte im März 2018 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit The Red Cliff, With Calligraphy Of "Ode To The Red Cliff" In Running Script für USD 1.095.000,00 (€ 888.798,70) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 580.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wen Zhengming erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Poems In Large Running Script im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 83.227.500,00 (€ 9.525.364,61).
