In April this year Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Night at the Apollo by Weegee. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,445.00 (€ 4,026.27), 27% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Weegee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Weegee Portfolio in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,028.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 27 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Night at the Apollo von Weegee zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.445,00 (€ 4.026,27) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Weegee erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Weegee Portfolio im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.028,69).
