The work Berry Cake by Wayne Thiebaud was auctioned at Phillips in New York in May last year. It achieved a price of USD 2,813,000.00 (€ 2,621,377.32), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 41%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wayne Thiebaud - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Encased Cakes, which sold at auction in July last year for HKD 79,200,000.00 (€ 9,882,532.84).

Die Arbeit Berry Cake von Wayne Thiebaud kam im Mai letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 2.813.000,00 (€ 2.621.377,32) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 41%. Für andere Arbeiten von Wayne Thiebaud mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Encased Cakes beobachtet, die im Juli letzten Jahres für HKD 79.200.000,00 (€ 9.882.532,84) versteigert wurde.
