This artwork by Wang Wei achieved an unexpectedly high price at China Guardian in Hong Kong in October 2012. In the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Four Seas auction, the work Fishes and Aquatics sold for HKD 80,500.00 (€ 8,013.97) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 32,000.00. This high result makes Fishes and Aquatics the most expensive artwork by Wang Wei that we have observed at auctions so far.
