Description
WANG SU (1794-1877) Flowers Album of twelve leaves, ink and colour on paper Each leaf measures 33.3 x 46 cm. (13 1 ⁄ 8 x 18 1 ⁄ 8 in.) Eleven leaves signed, one leaves inscribed and signed, with a total of twelve seals of the artist Titleslip inscribed and signed by Zhao Shuru (1874-1945), with one seal Dated winter, jiashen year (1944)
Auction result well in line with expectations
In February this year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Dawn of Spring – Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Flowers by Wang Su. The price achieved of HKD 25,200.00 (€ 3,028.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Su achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Children at Play in November 2019 with an auction result of HKD 3,725,000.00 (€ 432,031.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar diesen Jahres führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Dawn of Spring – Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Flowers von Wang Su zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 25.200,00 (€ 3.028,18) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 20.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Su erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Children at Play im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.725.000,00 (€ 432.031,04).
