Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hong Kong Scenery by Wang Shaoling was auctioned at Christies in New York in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 10,080.00 (€ 1,185.72). Admittedly, works by Wang Shaoling have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Statue Square in November 2019 with an auction result of HKD 50,000.00 (€ 5,799.07).
