This artwork by Wang Meng achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2017. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Scent of Celestial Flora sold for HKD 18,700,000.00 (€ 2,013,338.38) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 7,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Meng - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishing In Green Depths, which sold at auction in April 2018 for HKD 59,000,000.00 (€ 6,225,443.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wang Meng erzielte im November 2017 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit Scent of Celestial Flora für HKD 18.700.000,00 (€ 2.013.338,38) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 7.000.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Wang Meng mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fishing In Green Depths beobachtet, die im April 2018 für HKD 59.000.000,00 (€ 6.225.443,10) versteigert wurde.
