Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Wang Hui achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2020. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction, the work Magpies, Pine And Waterfall After Tang Yin sold for HKD 252,000.00 (€ 27,911.05) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Hui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Endless Streams and Mountains in July 2020 with an auction result of HKD 28,925,000.00 (€ 3,169,122.64).
