This artwork by Wang Dong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in December 2020. In the On Wings of Song: Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy from the Collection of Robert van Gulik auction, the work Red Plum Blossom sold for HKD 21,250.00 (€ 2,241.41) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Wang Dong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Landscape After Wang Meng in October 2012 with an auction result of HKD 100,000.00 (€ 9,955.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wang Dong erzielte im Dezember 2020 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion On Wings of Song: Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy from the Collection of Robert van Gulik wurde die Arbeit Red Plum Blossom für HKD 21.250,00 (€ 2.241,41) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Dong auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Landscape After Wang Meng im Oktober 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 100.000,00 (€ 9.955,24).
