Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Sussex landscape by Walter James Steggles. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,387.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Walter James Steggles have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Canal, Mile End in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,999.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sussex landscape von Walter James Steggles zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.387,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Walter James Steggles auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Canal, Mile End im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 5.999,04).
