This price was achieved in the auction The Athlete: Photographs by Walter Iooss, Jr. at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 6,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Walter Iooss Jr.; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Dwight Clark, “The Catch”, San Francisco, CA, 1982 sold at auction in August 2020 with the realized price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 31,417.56).
