The work Contemplation by Walter Firle was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2007. It achieved a price of USD 11,400.00 (€ 8,616.78), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 63%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Walter Firle; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Telling sweet stories sold at auction in October 2005 with the realized price of EUR 9,600.00.

Die Arbeit Contemplation von Walter Firle kam im Februar 2007 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 11.400,00 (€ 8.616,78) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 63%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Walter Firle; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Telling sweet stories im Oktober 2005 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 9.600,00.
